Spring of 2008 marked the birth of the Ozark Outlaws, a cowboy re-enactment group...it was an idea, an opportunity, and a willingness that grew. Today, the Ozark Outlaws, as individual members of SASS (Single Action Shooting Society), share a common interest in preserving the history of the Old West. When the opportunity arose for them to partner with the 1890's Village and "dress up and play cowboy", to quote Tracy, they jumped at the chance. Under the leadership of Dave Cherry and Anne Mahoney, and great marketing, the group has flourished. Everyone has a part in the success, from Arkansas Harper writing the first scenario to Hog Jaw Willy and EZ Al making blanks; Arkansas Bell pulling a derringer from under her petite coat to Rose flirting with the sheriff. Everyone in period dress, toating six guns, cooking over an open fire, reliving life as it might have been back in the 1890's.
Just a group of friends playing cowboy. What a great life this is!
